SO TELL ME IF YOU WILL

A short animated film created in collaboration with Lebanese filmmaker Ali J. Dallul. The film was showcased as part of the “Kalila wa Dimna: Ancient Tales for Troubled Times” exhibition and public program at @p21_gallery in London, UK, which ran from May 12 to June 11, 2022. The film tells the story of four animals living peacefully together in a harmonious environment. One day, their existence is threatened, a narrative inspired by the “Ringdove” chapter from “Kalila wa Dimna”. The film reflects on the destructive impact of human actions on both society and natural ecosystems.

فيلم متحرك قصير تم بالتعاون مع المخرج اللبناني علي ج. دلول. تم عرض الفيلم كجزء من معروض وبرنامج ”كليلة ودمنة: حكايات قديمة لأوقات مضطربة“ في معرض 21پ في لندن، المملكة المتحدة، الذي استمر من 12 أيار/مايو إلى 11 حزيران/يونيو 2022. يحكي الفيلم قصة أربعة حيوانات يعيشون معًا في بيئة هادئة ومتناغمة. وفي يوم من الأيام، تُهدد حياتهم. “اليمامة” من كليلة ودمنة، ويعكس التأثير المدمر للأفعال البشرية على المجتمع والنظم البيئية الطبيعية

THE SECRET OF RAINDROPS

The film tells the story of Lana who goes on a journey to reveal the destiny of her mother who disappears suddenly in the woods, leaving no trace behind but her name in a raindrop hanging on a branch. A passing deer holds it in the eyes and vanishes. Lana eventually discovers the secret of the imprisoned names and helps her mother. The story was created to highlight the issue of the arbitrary detention of civil activists by different actors. It symbolizes the Syrian society’s engagement and struggle for the release of prisoners of conscience.

سرّ حبات المطر

حكاية الفيلم قصة فتاة تُدعى لانا، تذهب في رحلة للكشف عن مصير والدتها التي اختفت فجأة في الغابة من دون أن تترك أي أثر سوى حبة مطر بقيت معلقة على غصن شجرة، وقد حُبس اسم والدتها فيها. يظهر غزال بين الأشجار ويلتقط حبة المطر ويختفي. في نهاية القصة، تكشف لانا سر الأسماء المحبوسة في حبات المطر وتساعد والدتها. يهدف الفيلم إلى تسليط الضوء على قضية الاعتقال التعسفي للنشطاء المدنيين/ات من قبل جهات متعددة، ويرمز إلى جهود المجتمع السوري في السعي لمعرفة مصير معتقلي الرأي والمغيبين قسرًا

BREATH

This animation follows 2 children and a star-shaped character, inspired by Syrian architecture, whose parents were detained by Al Mukhabarat. As shadow puppets, they navigate loss, isolation, and social stigma alongside other affected familites. Fragile like the wind, they struggle until they unite with the star, symbolizing their identity and cultural roots. Together, they reclaim their right to know their loved ones’ fate and challenge political imprisonment. Inspired by stories from the Syrian Oral History Archive (SOHA), this narrative sheds light on the impact of political imprisonment on families, especially children. Powered by Dawlaty, SOHA amplifies the voices of ordinary Syrians — focusing on women and youth — to preserve memories of the 2011 uprising and its aftermath, shaping the justice agenda since 2016.

نفس

يحكي الفيلم قصة طفلين ترافقهما نجمة مستوحاة من العمارة السورية، اعتقلت المخابرات والديهما. يتحولان إلى دمى خيال الظل، مجسدين معاناتهما من العزلة والوصم الاجتماعي، إلى جانب عائلات أخرى تواجه المصير ذاته. هشّون كالرّياح، لكنهما يجدان القوة للاتحاد مع النجمة، رمزًا لهويتهما وجذورهما الثقافية، مما يساعدهما على إعادة بناء حياتهما والمطالبة بحق معرفة مصير أحبائهم ومواجهة واقع السجن السياسي. مستوحى من قصص أرشيف التاريخ الشفهي السوري (SOHA) يسلط الفيلم الضوء على أثر الاعتقال السياسي على العائلات، وخاصة الأطفال. بدعم من "دولتي"، يضم الأرشيف أصوات السوريين العاديين، مع التركيز على النساء والشباب، لحفظ ذاكرة انتفاضة 2011 وما تلاها، وتشكيل أجندة العدالة منذ 2016
